honestly if the term gets watered down then if an autistic person says they're overstimulated then people who don't understand will assume they mean the watered down version, which means we get ridiculed for being actually overstimulated and we don't get the proper support we need and it takes a toll - sincerely, and autistic person who HAS suffered because of the word being watered down to "feeling mildly frustrated and/or unhappy" for a normal reason where you do get that feeling as opposed to the distress we can feel over what is seemingly nothing 😬

Well it does tho because it means when someone says they're overstimulated people are going to underestimate how they're actually feeling because they think it means a bit annoyed
