During my first year of fashion design, my Singer sewing machine caught my finger and sewed right through it. It took both of my parents to get it out while I screamed. I can still recall the sensation of the needle piercing my finger—and then the feeling when they pulled it out and removed the thread from the hole in my finger. I have to give it a 10/10: the needle didn’t even break! I removed it myself, driven purely by trauma. The best part is that it’s a home-use model—I LOVE it. I’m not entirely sure which model it is, but it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

guys I'm a Diesel technician and I wear safety glasses more around my sewing machine then I do around trucks for this exact reason. tiny objects are so dangerous around your eyes and a sewing machine IS A POWER TOOL. always wear ppe!!!

Especially when an older sewing machine is involved my old one was temperamental as hell, the needle broke off in one piece and was going right for my eye luckily I wear glasses so I had something to protect my eyes but that was a micro heart attack and a half...

at my last job, an industrial, heavy duty (cast iron) sewing machine closed back up on my finger while i was cleaning it on the inside with compressed air 😭 i have no idea how my finger wasn't broken after that but DAMN
