@photojournalstories: LONDON | 31 OCTOBER 2026 PENSIONERS AMONG HUNDREDS ARRESTED AT PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTEST Margaret Owen OBE, 94, was arrested again following her participation in a Defend Our Juries protest outside the US Embassy in London. A great-grandmother, retired human rights barrister and lifelong campaigner for human rights, Margaret was awarded an OBE for her work advancing women’s rights, particularly those of widows. She continues to work pro bono. On Saturday 31 October 2026, Margaret joined hundreds of demonstrators outside the US Embassy to protest against the proscription of Palestine Action and express her anger over Israel’s actions in Gaza and the support it receives from the British and American governments. Margaret accuses Israel of committing genocide and condemns the British government’s refusal to recognise it. Speaking shortly before her arrest, she expressed her disappointment with the British government over its continued military support for Israel and its refusal to acknowledge what she describes as genocide in Gaza. Margaret was subsequently arrested under counter-terrorism legislation. She had previously been arrested at a demonstration outside the Labour Party conference in Liverpool in September 2026. #MargaretOwenOBE #DefendOurJuries #PalestineAction #Gaza #HumanRights Photojournalism
