As employees, it is not our problem that the company does not staff enough people to cover time off whether it’s expected or unexpected. I give my vacation notice. It’s a notice that I won’t be there. It’s not a request. It’s saying I won’t be there.

When I was a kid, we canceled many vacations because Dad had an emergency at work. He was an engineer. As kids we did not dare complain because Dad’s work was why we had a good living. We survived.

Her boss is totally wrong her vacation was already approved so if he is short staff because some quit that is his problem and not hers he knew he was wrong tried to bully her into canceling her vacation but it didn’t work because that sounds like a him problem

As a business owner, if I approve your time off then you get that time off. Any issues I run into is my problem because it’s my business.

I’m working on a Sunday to get us ahead for tomorrow. My coworker has had a vacation planned for MONTHS. It’s not his fault our distributor was behind and didn’t get us our parts on time. So I’m getting some OT, our Monday will be easier, and he isn’t worrying about work.

almost the same thing happened with my coworker, she asked in May for a week off in October to go on a cruise, previous manager said that was fine, new manager said that wasn't fine, but she went anyways, and guess what, we were just fine without her here but manager fired her because she "failed to show up for work"
