As a former banker, yes we asked questions for your protection. Its either the banks do too much or they didn't "do enough" when you get scammed...can't have it both ways.

As a bank teller, I can tell you that we are required to ask sometimes depending on a ton of factors, but I think that specific question is kinda weird but every institution is very different 😭😭

We do this everyday…there are so many scams just trying to prevent loss. Seems intrusive but we honestly don’t want to it’s just to save people’s money from being lost in a scam.
