Yall be giving Reagan tooo much credit when he was a horrible president. This immigration Amnesty was a bipartisan Congressional effort that, proof of what is possible when Congress actually works together. My Stepdad and all has family obtained their Green cards and he was ultimately able to help my mom. Forever grateful for impactful legislation and it’s why I am now a policy expert focusing on crimmigration and will always be an anti-Trumper.

During Reagan’s Amnesty, all you had to submit to get your green card was proof of employment. A certified letter attesting to the fact that you’ve been lawfully employed prior to your application for amnesty.

Exactly my parents never let us forget how they got here even though they are legal now, we vote for those without a voice 💙. Don’t talk down on those here illegally or our people, we recognize were are them, they are us!

My parents were both so lucky and got their papers because of that. They are now citizens and will continue to vote for the rights of others who haven’t gotten so lucky. Idk how people turn so quickly on their own.

My dad will always be grateful to Reagan because of this. I believe he was only 18 years old at the time.

I had to tell my SILs husband one time that for someone who loves trump, he forgets that our Father in Law came in illegally THEN got papers for himself and then his children and THAT'S how HE NOW has papers. Funny how fast they forget.

I always thank congress and Reagan for that opportunity. And I will never side with politicians who aren't fair to my people.

My dad benefited from the Regan 1986 immigration amnesty but he never let it get to his head. He still respected those who didn’t have the same status

I will never say that. I say every hard working person deserves a chance. I was mad at DACA because there was no path to citizenship. Now it gets taken away whenever and people lose jobs

That’s how my dad was able to gain residency and in the 1999 became a citizen. I’m so grateful my parents never turned on their people and still use their vote for those who can’t.

My parents were lucky enough to benefit from it and then were able to file for my brothers when they were able to. It breaks my heart whenever I hear “do it the legal way” like don’t you think people would if they could?!

When the US took half of the land of Mexico, many Mexicans stayed but during and after the great depression, they deported legal US citizens of Mexican descent.
