@jessespeaksjesus: THE BLACK OBELISK AND KING JEHU In 1846, Austen Henry Layard found a black stone obelisk in the ruins of Nimrud, Iraq, honoring Assyria’s King Shalmaneser III. One panel shows a man bowing face to the ground, captioned “The tribute of Jehu, son of Omri.” Jehu was Israel’s king in 2 Kings 9-10. It might be the only picture of an Israelite king found! #BlackObelisk #KingJehu #BiblicalArchaeology
