Watch “The first purge” it’s like the 3rd movie in the series but it’s a prequel that shows the first ever purge. In the movie, people weren’t really killing each other just petty crimes and block parties. The government had to come in and make people kill each other which then turned the purge into the murderous event we see in the first movie

I mean they tried to show that's what people wanted to do in "The First Purge" and people wanted to steal and party but the experiment was that the government wanted to eliminate poor and disadvantaged communities so they sent in crews to stir the pot which resulted in the 💀 taking over.
