NHS GP's don't seem to have a full understanding of anaemia and blood tests.. 24 ferrtin reading is totally normal for a woman apparently

I’ve got low iron but every month is a struggle to get my prescription as they keep doing it as a one off instead of a repeat so I’ve given up

so if your gut absorption is impacted by coeliac disease and supplements won't make a difference, what is the alternative - infusions? and how do we advocate for these lol feel like I'm having to beg my doctor to take me seriously

I’m anemic and my GP just keeps giving me iron tablets. They do nothing. I don’t absorb it. It’s been over 12 months. She’s not interested.

My body doesn’t store iron and never has. As a child I was hospitalised many times and I have monthly iron infusions and still the next day I’ve dropped below 10.

interesting.
so when I go to my GP and ask them about this, what blood work should I ask for? because most GPs would just carry out a normal blood panel and not specifics 🤔
