You might expect a yoga teacher to practise every pose… but I don’t. Here are 3 poses I rarely (or never) practise. And the reason? Because I don’t want to. Not because they’re “bad.” Not because they’re unsafe. Not because I can’t. Simply because they don’t currently serve my practice. One of the things yoga has taught me is that your practice should evolve with you. Just like life, it has seasons. Some poses come into your practice for months or years, and then quietly leave again. Others appear when your body or mind needs them. Your practice. Your rules. That doesn’t mean I never work towards the qualities those poses offer. I often practise variations that build similar strength, mobility or balance in ways that feel better for my body. Yoga isn’t about ticking off a list of poses. It’s about finding a practice that supports you. So if you’ve ever felt guilty for skipping a pose because everyone else seems to be doing it… don’t. I’d love to know… what’s one pose you’ve happily left behind? 👇 And if you’re curious to see the variations I practise instead, let me know in the comments. If enough people are interested, I’ll make that carousel next. #YogaForRealLife #MoveWithShanel #YogaPractice #YogaTeacher #MovementOverPerfection
