"I wanted a ski retreat far from Los Angeles and ended up finding a new home," says designer Linda Chambless of her ranch in Wyoming. The front porch affords a view of Chambless's horse corral and Jackson Hole. "I use the western saddle when I ride in local cutting horse competitions," she says. Her tack dangles from the horn hat rack at left. (1-2) The dining area features a 19th-century English equine oil. The canvas chair was designed by her partner, James Magni, who also helped with the interiors. (3-4) "Jim and I designed the fireplace. The rusted-metal surround and hearth were made nearby in Jackson. Since it's so dry here and things take years to rust, the pieces were first put in a salt solution and then left in the snow all winter," says Chambless. Presiding over the living room is a Philippine santo. "I like pieces that are old and hand-done, hand-carved and hand-painted," she says. The glass bowl is by Algerine Correia. At right is a Plains Indian lance. (4) "Woodrow Blagg, an artist from Texas, did the pencil drawing specifically for this space," says Chambless of another area of the living room. Dutch colonial chairs from Java flank a table by Cedric Hartman. Cabinet is from Brazil. Mimi London draperies. (5-6) I found the old picture frame in Jackson and wanted to use it on its own," says Chambless. "And the Mexican painting added some more interest." On the guest bedroom chair is an Indian appliquéd fabric. (7-8) An iron post bed and a painted turn-of-the-century cupboard, which holds a 19th-century altarpiece, dominate the master bedroom. A piece of Venetian glass and an Indonesian blanket rest on a Mexican chest. (9-10) #homedecor #homedesign #interiordesign #90s #homeinspo
