You don’t have to date a wealthy man, but you should be intentional about dating a man who has the willingness, responsibility and ambition to contribute to your life. A man may not have much today, but does he have a plan? Does he make an effort? Does he support you when you’re struggling? Does he take your needs seriously, even when he cannot afford everything? Because there’s a difference between a man who is financially struggling but genuinely trying and a man who has become comfortable watching you carry every responsibility. Sis, don’t confuse financial hardship with financial irresponsibility. You are not asking for too much by wanting a partner who can support you. And you shouldn’t have to become someone’s mother, financial sponsor and emergency rescue plan just to prove that you love him. Remember: You don’t need a rich man, but you deserve a responsible partner who understands that building a relationship also requires financial responsibility.
