@dans.tronics: I bought a locked Chromebook for $10 and brought it back to life by hacking its BIOS 💻🔓 📦 It probably came from a school: no screws on the bottom panel, the flash storage and the battery ripped out by force, and recovery mode disabled. No storage + no recovery = total e-waste, right? Wrong. 🧠 Meet the Winbond chip that holds the BIOS. Flash it with MrChromebox's custom firmware and the laptop can boot any OS straight from a USB drive or an SD card, bypassing everything. 🔥 Board masked with tape, way too much flux, hot air: the chip came off clean. Soldered to a Raspberry Pi Pico as a DIY BIOS programmer, flashed (Codex ran the guide for me), then soldered back onto the motherboard. ✅ Moment of truth: it works. Ubuntu now runs perfectly from a USB stick. A big thank you to @PCBWay for supporting the channel!
