In today’s no touch game. He hit 66% from 3. When he crossed half court he was in range. In a college game against Georgia, with time running out, he dribbled to half court and shot a hook shot……. Splash.

Watching clips of Pistol Pete is like watching Casa Blanca, you can see exactly where the game was going to go. It was so wildly advanced for the time.

The stuff Nash and Steph do, pistol Pete did in the 70’s

Larry Bird said that the basketball looked like an extension of Pete's hand.

Imma say this and you can argue with a wall. About 72 to 94 was the HEIGHT of fundamental basketball. No building teams off 3 players. It wasn’t “oh but they got Kobe”. Yeah you had greats. But they weren’t great yet. It was a physical and mental game you just couldn’t run solo

His career average at LSU was 44 points a game, without a 3 point line. one of the most unbreakable records in sports.

If his knees don’t give out, he goes down as one of the greatest of all time.

They went back and looked at some of his games and he was hitting if there was a 3pt line around 9 x 3s a game . He was also a tortured soul as he contemplated suicide all the time but felt the need to not disappoint ball fans

I’m from down on the bayou and all we could expect from the Jazz was for a highlight from the pistol and we loved him

I saw him play when the Jazz were in NOLA, mid to late 70s. The Jazz didn't have much & Pete was forced to chuck it up a lot, but his handle, shot, creativity, vision, passing were among the best ever. Rarely if ever did a night go by when he didn't pull off some otherworldly, alien shot, pass, finish or play when even the other team would be like, "Waitaminute...that can't be real."

I heard that when he was a kid, Pete would ride down the road, hanging out the bed of a truck dribbling a basketball under complete control.
