Felix Nyuah :
I always think about this: if we Africans could take pride in what we have, believe in ourselves, and focus on making our own countries better, perhaps racism and bullying would no longer be the experiences many of us face when we travel to the white man’s land.
Unfortunately, we have become so obsessed with money and the desire to travel abroad that we sometimes forget the importance of peace, dignity, and respect in our own societies.
Even in Ghana, within our own families, when you are poor and struggling and have to ask relatives for help, you sometimes experience disrespect and humiliation. But when you manage to overcome your struggles without depending on anyone, suddenly, the same people begin to respect you.
Why should our dignity depend on how much money we have?
We need to start taking pride in our countries, supporting one another, and building the kind of society we want to live in. Africa may not be perfect, but it is our home, and we have the responsibility to make it better.
The dream should not always be about escaping Africa. Sometimes, the dream should be about making Africa a place where everyone can live with dignity, peace, and respect.
Our future is in our hands.
