my brother DESPERATELY wants me to join the military (he’s in Navy, got done with boot camp in July & now in school) & I keep telling him that I’m more free than he is & a $40,000 sign on bonus does not sway me to join in any way possible.

My grandpa was in the army in the Korean War when he got back he became an extremely outspoken pacifist and his biggest fear was one of his kids or grandkids go into the military he hated that institution.

the military always came off as scummy with their recruitment strategies but I knew it was beyond screwed when I first saw those ads about the military paying for college. our government is fr just "socialism is bad and no one should do it, unless you sign up to kill ppl for us"

My dad went to Vietnam. He always said never go into the military. He had agent orange and my mom and dad lost twins before I was born. He is still off because of what he had to do and what he saw.

I was in the military same rank as her and then moved up to second class was still broke and I knew families of other sailors who where on food and housing assistance because they where broke too....

just remember, it's more cost effective for the machine to give folded flags and condolences than it is to actually fix the broken cogs. And it's definitely more alluring to see that big sign on bonus, remember, you have to not die to make it to the rest of that payout.

It’s so scary sometimes I’m walking around campus hungry mad broke and see the reclutes table and genuinely stop to think about it even tho I KNOW I never would but I lwk need to talk myself out of it 😭😭😭
