@clearlynotkelsey: 🍅Homemade Heinz-Style Ketchup🍅 Rich, smooth, and perfectly tangy homemade ketchup made with simple pantry ingredients. This version has all the classic flavors of Heinz ketchup, with a slightly less sweet finish and no high-fructose corn syrup. Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 15–20 minutes Chill Time: 12–24 hours Ingredients: Choose either the two-tube or two-can measurements below. Ingredients: Option 1: Two 4.5 oz Tubes of Tomato Paste * 9 oz (255 g) tomato paste * 35 g (about 3 tbsp) granulated sugar * ¼ cup (60 g) distilled white vinegar * 135 g (about ½ cup + 1 tbsp) water * ¾ tsp fine salt * ½ tsp onion powder * ¼ tsp garlic powder * ⅛ tsp ground allspice Option 2: Two 6 oz Cans of Tomato Paste * 12 oz (340 g) tomato paste * 47 g (about 3 tbsp + 2 tsp) granulated sugar * ⅓ cup (80 g) distilled white vinegar * 180 g (¾ cup) water * 1 tsp fine salt * ⅔ tsp onion powder * ⅓ tsp garlic powder * ⅛ tsp ground allspice + a pinch Instructions: 1. Combine the ingredients. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the tomato paste, sugar, white vinegar, water, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and allspice until smooth. 2. Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and bring to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking or scorching. 3. If the ketchup becomes too thick, add water 1 tablespoon at a time until it reaches your desired consistency. Keep in mind that the ketchup will thicken slightly as it cools. 4. Taste the ketchup and adjust the sweetness, acidity, or salt as needed. For a tangier ketchup, add additional white vinegar ½–1 teaspoon at a time. 5. Allow the ketchup to cool before transferring it to a clean, airtight glass jar or bottle. Refrigerate for at least 12 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to develop. Storage: Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. Freezer: Freeze for up to 3 months for best quality. Thaw in the refrigerator and stir before using. **This recipe is intended for refrigerated storage and has not been tested for shelf-stable canning. Notes: * Sugar alternatives: Honey or pure maple syrup can be substituted for granulated sugar. For the two-tube batch, start with 25–30 g honey or 30–35 g maple syrup. For the two-can batch, start with 35–40 g honey or 40–45 g maple syrup. Adjust to taste. * Vinegar: Distilled white vinegar gives the ketchup its classic sharp, tangy flavor. * Texture: For an extra-smooth consistency, blend the finished ketchup with an immersion blender. * Flavor development: The ketchup will develop a more rounded flavor after resting in the refrigerator overnight. * Tomato paste: Use plain, unsweetened tomato paste for the best results. @Our Place @Mutti Pomodoro #tiktokrecipecontest #homemadeketchup #ketchup #ketchuprecipe

do you loose anything from the flavor profile if you don't use all spice?

adding this to my "to make" list. I'm slowly in the process of switching over so many items we have to diy with less bs and chemicals/preservatives in them.

What else could you use beside an Emerson blender? I’ve been thinking about getting one but I also have a regular blender?
