i got away with a lot in highschool simply for being pretty and neurodivergent. it was like a constant pity party and i’m very grateful bc my life was hell but it was also patronizing looking back. like i genuinely feel incapable of doing anything bc everyone makes me feel like im not supposed to be able to do anything or im supposed to be helpless.. now in college im determined to do the hard work myself and not use any help or resources bc i dont want to be pitied

Not a teacher, but this older lady in my robotics program was explaining something to me and I wasn’t understanding it so she eventually gave up and said “you’re stupid but at least you’re pretty” I cried sm later that day 😭
