I’m not mechanical at all, but it’s a Toyota, aren’t they known for being super reliable and solid vehicles for 100,000’s of thousands of miles.

As a young female I’m constantly taken advantage of at these shops so I take all my old paperwork with me. Seeing someone who is actually not trying to screw the customer over is refreshing

Only way to fix this issue is to STOP letting auto shops diagnose cars. There should be diagnostic only shops . Were u pay a small fee to get your issues diagnosed & quoted. Then you get it fixed by an actual shop. The diagnostic shops should have zero relations with any auto shops & not allow to recommend one

My husband and I got quoted $15,000 from a shop claiming that our engine was shot, we got a second opinion one tiny part needed to be replaced which costed us 400 bucks and that truck ran for another seven years and 350,000 miles on it. It’s always good to get a second opinion especially when like you said it smell smells like poop.

My jeep had a ground issue that I had no time to dig around for, took it to a dealership so they could chase wires and test them. I had told them I replaced the head gaskets on it and fixed them before I brought it in. Had the jeep towed in cause I didn’t wanna cause anymore damage or it catch on fire. They told me it would be a 250 diag and I said okay. Turns out when I went to pay and get my jeep back they replaced parts that I didn’t ask for and didn’t tell me about it but tried to charge me $1,200 for. I sat there and argued with them cause they changed parts that I had just payed for and put it myself that same week. So I got my Jeep back and fixed it in their parking lot (it was one ground and the wiring harness) and I drove it home.

Giant dealership in my town. Towed it in and they called 4 days later & said I needed a new engine. Called a friend that owns a dealership and he picked it up, towed to his place. Final result, it needed spark plugs. I am a woman and this BS happens ALL the time. 2nd opinions are mandatory

I took a car in for a smog and was told my defroster was going bad. Never had issues with it so I ignored and decided once it stopped working I’d fix it. One day I was cleaning the car and while cleaning the back window I noticed they had unclipped the defroster. I clipped it back in and realized what they were trying to do.

How would any good shop have to e nerve to tell someone on this year if tundra that it needs a new motor and CV like that. These trucks are known to be tanks.

I took my car in to get the air conditioner fixed and they took my door panels apart and screwed with my wiring so now my windows don't grow up enough

I used to be a mechanic, head gasket leak usually presents as milky oil, or oil in anti freeze. You said oil looked good, really shoots a hole
