@miascorpio: Predators are sneaky, and the scary reality is we will never be able to recognize them all. Look at the news! Teachers, coaches, childcare workers, people in respected positions, and even people we trust. Some of these are the LAST people anyone would have suspected. They’re hiding in places we send our children every single day, believing they’re safe. I know what it’s like to be the child whose guardians had to apologize for not protecting me. I’ve heard those apologies more than once. And that’s something I never want my own children to experience. I can’t promise I’ll recognize every predator, but I CAN promise to do my absolute best. I’ll educate my children, educate myself, ask questions, pay attention, stay involved, and make my stance known. If I come across as too protective, so be it. I’m not here to make predators comfortable. I’m here to protect my children. Awareness isn’t a guarantee, but being more aware is something we can ALL do. That’s why I wear what I believe in.
