Mach tuck is an aerodynamic instability that hits as you approach the speed of sound. The center of pressure moves rearward, the nose pitches down on its own, and if the pilot doesn't catch it, the jet can enter a steep, unrecoverable dive. The Learjet 60 was known for this at high Mach — it has a stick pusher that automatically forces the nose up before tuck becomes critical. There were a couple of high-profile incidents in the nineties where Learjets lost control in exactly this regime, which is part of why the pusher and Mach trim systems got so much attention in that family.
