one of the biggest things that causes repeated hormonal birth control failure is increased medication metabolism! this means that for whatever reason, your body is burning the birth control up too fast, resulting in levels that are too low to prevent pregnancy. this could be specifically a condition of the liver, or of the thyroid, or other things.

yup. been pregnant 5 times, all on perfect use, NO user error. I am paranoid as fk now & am adamantly against any DR trying to change up my method/medication. Ppl don't understand that everyone's individual hormones & body chemistry is unique - it is NOT one size fits all, and that 99.whatever is based upon *standards*, if you fall outside that standard, you can NOT trust those stats or percentages 😅 😭 science, or statistics, can not and do not account for EVERY possible variable in existance.

This, and people never seem to be asking their doctors why it keeps happening. it's just "here i am, pill baby #5 on the way, hehe!" Chances are that they're ovulating through the pill, especially if it was different brands. Don't doctors get concerned about this??

I’ve got a partial uterine septum and only know because of my last pregnancy, had to get a 3d/4d uterine scan due to some issues. Found out it’s a common cause for the mirena to fail and was told I can’t get one. I wanted a long term birth control 😅 Most women that have septums and partial ones don’t even know till a birth control failure or a cause for an in-depth scan.

yep my mom got pregnant on 3 different forms, depo, pill and i dont know the 3rd. shes never formed immunity to hep b after 4 rounds of that vaccine, never formed immunity for the mmr. no immunity to chicken pox despite having it at 12.

My hormonal birth control failed once and I had twins. I asked for a tubal ligation and was denied. It failed again & I had my 3rd child. We live in poverty now because the two OB/GYNs in my town knew better about how many kids I should have than I did. ❤️

First question out of my mouth when a new medication is added either for consistent use or short term (antibiotics) is “will this affect my BC?”Side note antibiotics can lower the efficacy of most BCs. My one and only kid was because I took antibiotics on my honeymoon 😂😂 I now take progesterone only BC which is less likely to have that problem but you have to be religious in the timing of when you take it

I can’t believe I’m just learning this now, during perimenopause. 7 pregnancies, 5 that stuck, TWO planned, in 12 years before deciding vasectomy was the best bet. And people assume I’m just an idiot.

My son got through BC, condom and a list of reasons I shouldn’t get pregnant easily. Per my dr. my body just really wanted to be pregnant and created the conditions where I could. Took me 5 years to get pregnant with my second.

Can confirm. Got pregnant on the shot so I switched to the IUD. They’ll be 6 and 3 this year. I got a bi-salpingectomy 💀
