Every act of devotion, every offering, every moment spent in service to the Goddess is part of what makes us witches. The hats and dresses are beautiful ways to honor the goddess in our ritual ceremonies, but the sacredness comes from what we bring to them. Our intention. Our practice. Our willingness to listen, to call upon our ancestors, and to enter into relationship with something between this world and the other dimensions. Our Samhain Practical Magick retreat is full of laughter, creativity, and sisterhood. It is also deeply sacred and devotional. We gather to remember, to release, to honor our ancestors, and to make room for the wisdom they still have to share with us. I have been out of the broom closet for thirty years, and I’ve been practicing since I was fifteen, casting spells in my friend’s bedroom. For those first ten years of being openly a witch, so much of my practice happened alone in my backyard. I carried hopes and wishes for spaces like these, where I could stand beside other women and practice without having to hide or explain this part of myself. Everything I lived and learned in those solitary years is part of what I bring into these sacred gatherings. I didn’t come to witchcraft because it became a trend. This has been my life, and I will still be here when the fad passes. Preserving the craft, tending its sacredness, and creating space for witches like me means so much to me. Women who have practiced alone. Women who are finding their way back to themselves. Women who want to live their witchcraft with devotion. When we gather at Samhain, I carry that younger version of myself with me, the witch in her backyard who wished for sisters to stand beside her. And now, I get to help create the sacred space she was longing for. 🖤 #witchesoftiktok #witchcraft #witch #occult #ancestors
