He is absolutely right. Before the Quran there was polyandry already. So the Quran came to limit it to 4 in number as maximum and give regulations or conditions to marriage.

He said Quran didn’t introduce it, the introduction has been dated way back… now polygamy is different from polygyny… & he said islam limited it to 4… means it sued to exceed 4.. solomo story & other used to have multiple partners.

it is not true that polygamy is involving only Muslims. check the African tradition. there is polygamy without islam telling them to practice polygamy.

the verse that sheikh has mentioned is not limiting the number of women to marry as for a man who has got no issues of orphans because the verse is addressing the issue of those who dealing with orphans. the limit of four is only given to those who deal with orphans. and in that case the condition is being just. while in the case of marrying more without orphans issues, there is no condition of being just. Quran has never told men to marry more women but it has permitted men to marry more than one. thats why the same chapter in another verse Allah gives instructions on how to deal with multiple women. Allah said; you cannot be able to be just to the women. the best you can do is that you must not completely bend to one side and make the other feel like she is not included but just hanged aside.
