I had what I called a gay rooster. He never mounted a thing, barely crowed, but anyone who had chicks left them with him and he had a bf who he spent his time with. He would have like 3 hens chicks with him and loved it.

I had a RIR rooster that would call all his ladies to eat when I put the food out. he would wait until all the hens and chicks were fed before he'd come in and eat the scraps. I tried waiting until the hens and chicks would walk off and then put more out for him and he'd call them right back over

What's also amazing is the mom letting him close. Most hens will attack other chickens that come close to thier babies. That is a highly bonded pair!

i remember when i was younger there was a group of chicks were the mom didn’t want to take care of them anymore and just abandon them. then i started seeing a rooster taking care of them 🥹

I was raised on a chicken farm just for eggs so I got really close to them , anyways I hatched one egg out as an experiment to see if I could well he hatched and i named him cheep cheep long story short he was united w the flock and he done this with his number one girl “Jenny “ and they raised all their babies together for the rest of their lives
