@nym_news: We lost a great one amongst the New York #Mets community today, as Jerry Koosman has sadly passed away at the age of 83, the team announced. Koosman had been battling a long illness. 😭🙏 Widely regarded as the best left-handed pitcher in Mets’ history, Koosman complimented Tom Seaver in the starting rotation that helped carry the Mets to their first ever World Series in 1969. Over his 12 year career with the Mets, Koosman posted a 3.09 ERA while collecting 140 wins. Among all-time Mets pitchers, Koosman ranks 4th in bWAR (39.4), 6th in ERA (3.09), 3rd in wins (140), 3rd in strikeouts (1799), 2nd in games started (346), 2nd in complete games (108) and 2nd in shutouts (26). In 2021, the Mets inducted Koosman into the team Hall of Fame and retired his No. 36. One of the best to ever do it in the blue and orange. Rest in paradise, Jerry.
