how the hell rondo a empty assist when he was a literal rookie but they made him have one of the hardest assignments by having him playmake for KG Ray and Paul then even as an old man he became a backup PG for the 2020 lakers which helped out a lot

You can tell who never played the game or understands its history. With more spacing it’s easier to literally create because you have driving lanes and help has to come from further. In rondo’s era he wasn’t a shooter and neither were 3 of his starters. They ran sets and took advantage of defender errors. That was the entire league style of play. He was simply the very best at seeing it and zipping passes on time with accuracy and touch. His literal ability to pass was elite. These days a guard can rack up assist just by usage, space and being forced to kick to open shooters.
