@jameslparis: Look closely at this picture. This is the Learjet 60 immediately before impact today in Palm Beach County, Florida. The jet went down roughly nine miles from President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and resort. Trump had departed West Palm Beach aboard Air Force One a little more than an hour earlier. There’s another unusual piece of context: Mar-a-Lago has recently received increased air-defense protection. To be clear, there is no evidence at this point that this crash involved an attack or cyberattack. Investigators are still working to determine exactly what happened. But looking at this picture raises a larger question for me. In an age when aircraft are increasingly computerized, what is actually possible when it comes to aviation and cyberattacks? Could an aircraft ever be electronically compromised or manipulated and deliberately used as a weapon? I’m not saying that happened here. But the location, the timing, and especially this extraordinary image of the aircraft immediately before impact leave me with a lot of questions today.
