In August 2026, Butte County State’s Attorney’s Office unfortunately stated that they did not have sufficient evidence to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt against the two suspects in Beverly Ozuna-Ulrich's disappearance who had previously been arrested in November 2025. Both suspects' charges were dropped without prejudice. The state can bring charges forward again at a later date.
