Audio from the black box was not uploaded to the Internet, there’s been no update about what has been found from the debris, it was uploaded from the recordings from the comms. The audio is absolutely heartbreaking, do not listen if you’re in a bad place. Her last words were “holy fuck, we’re out of time”

Pilot here: the ATC recording reports a decent of 35,000 feet per minute. That roughly translates to 400 mph. There have been similar crashes in the past as a result of poor/faulty maintenance and/or extreme weather conditions. It’s absolutely possible and it’s truly my worst nightmare, as there’s absolutely nothing I could do in that situation at all.

Private jet. Audio from the conversation with air traffic control, not from the black box — a black box is built sturdy, but not that sturdy. And it was likely instantaneous... it was definitely instant.

The likely scenario is that the cell they entered had an updraft which caused the airspeed to overspeed leading to a condition called “Mach Tuck”. This is when air over the wings goes supersonic and moves the center of lift rearward. For aircraft not designed to go supersonic sonic, this causes the nose to drop which exacerbates the problem causing the speed to continue climbing even if power is reduced. If you don’t act fast enough, the aircraft can be overstressed and start coming apart. The recovery is power to idle, speed brakes, drop the gear, and slow the descent into denser air where the aircraft will be controllable again. Ice on the wings might have contributed to this condition. Recovery is not guaranteed.

It was a LearJet 60 btw, I don’t know exactly what happened but from the looks of the few videos we got I can’t see a horizontal stabilizer so it could have been that. Rest in peace to everyone on that plane.
