A Georgia mother has filed a lawsuit against a local school district, alleging staff repeatedly disregarded medical instructions meant to protect her disabled, epileptic son — actions she says directly put his life at risk. The suit claims employees gave the 11-year-old an iPad shortly before he suffered a “severe” seizure, despite clear warnings from both his doctor and his mother. According to the complaint, after the child began seizing, staff members attempted CPR and used a defibrillator — measures the lawsuit says conflicted with the emergency care plan established for him and ultimately caused fatal complications. The lawsuit states that Aa’Dyen Hooks suffered a hypoxic-ischemic brain injury on Nov. 3, 2023. His mother, Kandis Horton, alleges this was precisely the type of outcome doctors sought to prevent when they outlined specific emergency protocols for her son’s care. Horton further claims that employees at Euchee Creek Elementary School in Grovetown, part of the Columbia County School District, failed to respond for nearly a full minute after Aa’Dyen began having the seizure. The suit names three school employees — Robin Hankal, Haley Fisher, and Scott Jacobs — along with the district itself. It alleges that during the delay, Jacobs and several students stepped over and around the child without checking on him as he convulsed on the floor. As the seizure continued, Aa’Dyen’s body reportedly tightened into a crouched position before he flipped onto his back.#fyp #viral
