I think the main characters needed that conversation to understand that, even though they hurt each other, they don’t hate each other. They shared moments that taught them what love really means, what happiness feels like, and how much they grew because of each other. They will always be an important part of each other’s lives. They still love and care about each other, but sometimes love is not enough when that love also carries so much pain. Sometimes two people can love each other deeply and still understand that being apart is the healthier choice. I think they wished for each other to find happiness with someone else, even if it couldn’t be with them. Maybe in this life they couldn’t have the happy ending they wanted, but perhaps in another life they could have had the ending they deserved.
