No Horizontal stabilizer. Slow down the image before impact. Doesn’t matter who your pilot was there is no recovery. However, All speculation for everyone. May they rest in peace.

Older aircraft like this don’t have the more advanced deicing capability or technology. Based on the ATC audio it’s to imagine that it wasn’t at least a major factor. I don’t want this to sound morbid but they felt NOTHING, no pain. The nerves didn’t have time to route pain signals to the brain. It was over in a millisecond. It may not be of comfort to some but it is a fact!

T-tail separated, possibly due to severe turbulence turbulence. This causes uncontrollable pitch down moment. Temp was reported at -47C. Too cold for adherent icing.

The arguments on here are quite intriguing. I feel like some aviation peeps might be chiming in.

That stabalizer should have internal heating elements to prevent icing. To the Manufacturer: Safety before profits.

Entire parts can be torn off with enough ice most likely what happened saw a pilot comment we avoid storms like mountains in the sky. tragic.

How’s that even possible? In aviation? How they don’t know about it?

sadly, that looks correct the horizontal stabilizer must have broken off before impact.

Someone mentioned it looked like something was broken off the tail due to the sudden nose dive and inability to gain control. 😢😢😢

Is this most likely to occur on the small planes? I’m guessing the wide-body commercial craft are powerful enough to deal with icing.

Those of you saying she was DEI hire because she was a female pilot, then answer this question. How many times have male pilots crashed a plane due to pilot error?
