theyre not always captured, sometimes we just walk in with a ch47 and steal them like the mi-24 we snatched

When we did training in 29 palms in the Marines opfor would use those big Russian/Soviet helicopters. No idea how they got them but it was cool

Years ago when my dad was still active duty got trained to fly MI-24s for the US. We only had 3 or 4 flying models and like 20 pilots for them.

It goes back to the Atikama Zero. The best way to beat your enemy is to never underestimate them and learn as much as you can.

My favorite piece of history is a North Korean fighter jet pilot ended up, saying, screw it and flew his ass to South Korea in a MiG-15bis keep in mind at this time America did not even have a clue on the specs of it so they offered a $100,000 bounty for any pilot that could get their hands on the jet the North Korean pilot did not know about the bounty and was awarded it shortly after😂 and was confused they allowed him to keep the money, but it’s genuinely funny to know that this dude didn’t even know that there was a bounty flu to South Korea and this fighter jet that they’ve been wanting for years 😂

my favorite US Military development doctrine is:
Soviets build something, brag about its capabilities- US gets scared. builds the most frightening things sense the dinosaurs.-US steals said soviet equipment, finds out it is a piece of crap and bearly does what the soviets claim, we send it to a museum.
rinse repeat
