The pilot declares a mayday, reports an overspeed condition, and tells controllers she is descending 20,000 feet per minute. Air traffic control tries to help: "I'm here with you, talk to me." Seconds later her radio goes silent. Nine people were on board, according to the Associated Press. The jet had flown in from Austin, Texas. As a former ARFF Crew Chief, I believe this points to a catastrophic mechanical failure. The NTSB will determine the official cause.
