The criminal case against two Canadian foster parents accused in the death of a 12-year-old boy is moving forward, with disturbing testimony emerging in court. #BrandyCooney, 43, and her wife, #BeckyHamber, 45, are charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree murder, unlawful confinement, assault with a weapon, and failing to provide the necessities of life. Both women have entered not-guilty pleas. This week, Cooney testified in her own defense, telling the court that she and Hamber loved and cared for the boy, identified as L.L., as well as his younger brother, J.L. She said they were doing their best to manage extremely challenging behaviors. According to Cooney, restraints were used only as a last resort. She acknowledged tying the boys’ wetsuit sleeves with zip ties, claiming it was meant to prevent them from harming themselves, including attempts to choke themselves. She also testified that helmets were sometimes secured to their heads to stop self-inflicted injuries, such as hitting themselves. Cooney further alleged that the children frequently injured her and Hamber and engaged in extreme behavior, including urinating and defecating throughout the home. Her testimony was first reported by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.#viral #fyp
