Last week, I had the great pleasure of inviting young Shaswin A/L Kugenthen, a remarkable six-year-old boy from Kepala Batas, Penang, to my office to personally honour and recognise his extraordinary achievement in the International Book of Records. On 16 August 2026, Shaswin successfully established a world record under the category “Fastest to Identify Flags of All Countries and Recite Their Names and Continents (Kid)”, completing this remarkable task in just 17 minutes and 42 seconds, at the age of only 6 years, 5 months and 5 days. I am truly delighted and immensely proud to witness such an outstanding achievement by a young talent from Penang. At such a tender age, Shaswin has demonstrated exceptional memory, concentration and knowledge of world geography, setting an inspiring example for children of his generation. For me, achievements like this deserve to be recognised, celebrated and encouraged. Every child possesses unique talents and abilities, and it is our collective responsibility to provide them with the encouragement, guidance and opportunities needed to develop their fullest potential. Shaswin's achievement is not only a proud moment for his family, but also a wonderful accomplishment for our Indian community and the state of Penang. I sincerely hope his success will encourage more parents to identify and nurture their children's individual strengths from an early age. My heartfelt congratulations to Shaswin A/L Kugenthen on this remarkable world record. I wish him every success, happiness and a bright future filled with endless opportunities. Keep shining, Shaswin! Your achievement has made Penang proud, and I look forward to seeing you accomplish even greater things in the future. #YBDSR #PeraiKita #Penang2030 #MalaysiaMadani #ForYourPage - @sundarajoosomu
