I feel the same way. I’ve been an international student in South Korea for five years, and throughout my time here, I’ve often felt like people were judging me. Even though I’ve made a real effort to learn the language and understand Korean culture, I still sometimes feel like I’m treated differently. For example, when I go to a restaurant and try to get a server’s attention, they sometimes completely ignore me, yet respond immediately when someone else calls them. Experiences like these have made me feel like an outsider, no matter how hard I try to fit in. I’m honestly relieved and happy that my studies here are finally coming to an end.
