Maybe Feofan never stopped smoking because in their twisted mindset, him and Dottore/Zandik thought that love is transactional. They could only feel loved and secured if there is a equivalent exchange between the two of them. So, maybe his addiction to tobacco was there before his relationship with Zandik/Dottore, but the reason he never really stopped smoking was his way to show that him, Dottore, was indeed bound to his life forever. If he stopped smoking entirely, then Dottore's help was less needed and that end up in a "less value" relationship between the two of them. After all, Feofan & Zandik were the closest to each other. Not because both of them were evil, but because their exchange their live and gave it to each other. Feofan breath was Dottore job to preserve and when he left, there is no longer need to keep that bad habit. After all, there is no longer there anyone that could help him breath for him.

I GOT A THEORY. if you remember Dottore and Pantalone's conversations back in 6.7 Dottore was talking about how Pantalone always smoke Pantalone said "Feel free to stop me". WHAT IF DOTTORE DID CAME BACK?? AND STOP HIM TO SMOKE AND MAYBE THATS WHY HE IS NOT SMOKING NOW. I'm so delusional I'm sorry😔

Honestly, I’m extremely proud of him. Losing someone close to you like for his example a best friend and almost soulmate (I don’t ship and I don’t think they had romantic intentions, but they definitely were extremely close) is incredibly heartbreaking and can rock your point of view of the world extremely so the fact that he made that choice is extremely courageous, i’m very proud of him

His addiction sounds slightly romanticised imo but only a small bit 😭😭 smoking isn't something that is easy to drop just instantly and quitting has its own side effects. Sometimes quitting suddenly can cause more harm than to continue smoking gulp
