@the.mr.rich: The Australian Government spent $420,951 commissioning KPMG to independently evaluate AERO, the organisation shaping national education research and teaching advice. Despite its significant influence, the report remains secret following an FOI refusal. AERO reportedly argued that releasing the findings could undermine confidence in its evidence, discourage educators from participating in research, damage relationships with partner organisations and cause serious reputational harm. In other words, the organisation's own objection was that public scrutiny of its performance could damage its credibility. The Department justified withholding it on grounds including Commonwealth relations, government deliberations and commercial confidentiality.
