It's one those "They served their role, and there's no need to go further" things. And I get that. Personally, tho, I think there was potential to be used. Characters like Iruka and Shikamaru definitely got their time in the limelight, and of course the villains did, they're the villains. But guys like Kiba, Tenten, and Lee definitely needed more. Cuz I think when you halt Characters like that, if affects others like Shino, Neji and Sakura. When u let one slip, they all slip. Cuz I'm still pissed Neji and Lee never got a chance to settle their beef, or giving Tenten legendary weapons, only for her not to use. Or what was essentially the Sasuke retrieval arc 2.0 in shippuden. As a matter of fact, that could have been a great way to expand on Taka(or Hebi if you like scales), but nothing. And the Sakura hate is definitely uncalled for, but I'd be lying if I said she didn't have more development in part 1 compared to shippuden. Not to dismiss her contributions to the war or the Pain invasion, or even her trying to kill Sasuke. It's just as compared to Naruto, Sasuke or even Kakashi, she felt like the least development. And that's the thing, while I hate that these characters never got the development they needed, I can't be too mad cuz I know where that energy went. Naruto and Sasuke's story and world building as a whole. Honestly, besides milking the franchise, I think that's why Boruto's a thing. Cuz there was a lot left over that Kishimoto couldn't fit in, like the importance of the byakugan and such, but I feel early on in Boruto, they were repeating the same mistakes. I honestly wish Naruto was just bit longer, that way they could've had room to fit all of that in without having the ending feel the way it did.
