🌱🕯️🦋 MYCELIUMINTEGRATE™️ | ISA™ THE INNOCENCE WE NEVER HAD TO LEAVE BEHIND Growing Older Without Growing Away From Ourselves November 2, 2026 H.G.C. | @MyceliumIntegrate™️ 🎩🍄🌱❤️‍🔥💛🌹 Growing older does not require abandoning the child within us. It requires developing the wisdom to care for that part of ourselves without extinguishing it. I've often wondered why adulthood is portrayed as the loss of innocence. As children, we imagine what it will be like to grow up. We look forward to independence, freedom, and the opportunity to explore the world on our own terms. Then, somewhere along the way, we're told to put away childish things. But why must that include our wonder, imagination, curiosity, playfulness, and capacity for joy? Perhaps we haven't lost our innocence. Perhaps we've simply forgotten how to embrace it. There is a difference between innocence and ignorance. We can recognize manipulation without becoming manipulative. We can experience betrayal without abandoning our capacity to trust. We can understand cruelty without allowing it to determine how we treat others. And we can develop the discernment of an adult while preserving the curiosity of the child we once were. I still believe there is something wonderful about wanting to explore, laugh, play, and occasionally do something simply because it brings us joy. Of course, adulthood brings a little more consideration. That childhood ambition to become Evel Knievel and jump over thirty bicycles and the neighbor kid next door? Well, perhaps now we inspect the landing area first. 😂 But the excitement, imagination, and adventurous spirit behind it? Why should those disappear? Maturity should refine our judgment, not extinguish our enthusiasm for living. And there is another aspect of innocence that deserves recognition. Even adults possess vulnerabilities. We may be knowledgeable, experienced, and capable of understanding complex human behavior while still approaching another individual with genuine sincerity. When someone deliberately exploits that sincerity, it does not make the trusting individual foolish. It reveals something about the choices of the person who exploited it. This is where I've come to appreciate the importance of Self-Governed Vulnerability™. Not closing ourselves off from the world, but developing the discernment to recognize where our openness is respected. Not surrendering our innocence, but learning how to protect the qualities within ourselves that remain worth preserving. We don't have to become hardened simply because life has been difficult. Nor do we have to become emotionally inaccessible to demonstrate that we've matured. We can remain responsible adults who still find joy in the smallest discoveries. We can be serious when circumstances demand it and delightfully ridiculous when they don't. We can carry the lessons of our experiences without allowing those experiences to consume the entirety of who we are. Growing up was never supposed to mean growing away from ourselves. It was supposed to mean developing the wisdom to protect what was worth preserving. And perhaps that's one of the greatest freedoms adulthood can offer. We no longer have to choose between being the child who wonders and the adult who understands. We can be both. Because growing older should never mean reaching an age where we forget how to enjoy being alive. The child within us doesn't have to disappear for the adult to become wise. Always, All Ways. 🍄🌱💛 #MyceliumIntegrate #Innocence #SelfMastery #InnerChild #Authenticity
