I love that collectively we all took “massage the fundus” home with us from nursing school. No matter what your specialty is, you know to massage the fundus🤣

Accurate! We work L&D and Antenatal at my hospital but our Ante pts are specialized as well usually because their water has broken prematurely or their blood pressures need to be managed, preeclampsia. We always hope we don’t need to call Rapid on them but when we do we call ICU and we feel like outsiders in our own rooms because what you are assessing differs from what we do. But we are grateful for them to help care for our patients and give insight. 🩷

I have a sweet friend currently in nursing school. I’m an 18 year veteran. I told her if she needs help with med/surg, I’ve got her. If it’s peds, L&D or psych, I’m out. 😂

The ICU had a mom and we had to continuously monitor her baby, her ICU nurse was excited that I was sitting near the room and available during our entire shift 😂 but as a former ER nurse, we had to moderate sedate a pregnant patient once (needed to reduce her elbow, baby hadn’t reached viability) and I called L&D at our sister hospital 5-6 times for advice so I’ve been there myself 😂

I had to help a dr use a breast pump while she was intubated. She was septic from retained vernix!! Super rare!

I had the hardest time when in nursing school getting through OB, I knew I had no desire to work in that specialty. I was already working in a hospital that stopped delivering babies in the 70’s!

I worked in pain management clinic and had to float to urology. 99% men with penis issues, just awful, I’m glad someone else is there and it’s not me.
