@survival.shorts: Zombie apocalypse survive — TRAPPED UPSTAIRS | Season 5, Part 1 You live in an old hunting lodge at the top of a frozen lake. The dead have thrown the world into chaos — and you, Mia, and June barely made it here alive. The lodge is dark and cold as a cave, and the first job is a fire before dark. But a fire up here is a signal: smoke anything in the valley can see for miles, light in the windows after dark, the smell of wood smoke pointing straight at your door. Freeze tonight, or be found later. They light it anyway. A fire up here is built, not lit — tinder shaved from the dry inside of a split log, kindling no thicker than a thumb, one match shielded from the draft. Then the price gets paid every night: blankets over every window, because a window is the thinnest part of any wall and the light cannot be allowed to shine out over the snow. At the dusk check, Mia sees them: shapes at the bottom of the valley, all facing the same way. Up the valley. Toward the smoke. And on the slope below the lodge stand eleven zombies, frozen mid-climb where the cold took them. So the count becomes a rule of the house. Every morning, before anything else: eleven means the cold is holding. More means the ones below are reaching the line. Fewer means something out there can move in this cold. And the rule carries a promise: if that morning ever comes, the rifle comes down off the wall. The tall one stands at the end of the line, nearest the path down to the lake. He is the one you look for first. Tonight, there are eleven. One morning, there will only be ten.
