Deja Taylor’s 6-year-old son sh0t his first-grade teacher in a Virginia classroom after sneaking his mother’s fir3arm into school & now, after pleading guilty to felony child neglect earlier this year, Taylor has been sentenced to 5 years in prison with 3 years suspended or 2 years. This is in addition to the 21 months of active prison time Taylor has been serving for a previous conviction. She was also sentenced to 2 years supervised probation which prosecutors said Friday must “include substance abus3 treatment, parenting classes & mental health treatment.” Taylor, 25, was charged with felony child neglect & misdemeanor recklessness after she turned herself in this April & pleaded guilty. The boy was not charged in the matter. As a part of Taylor’s plea deal, commonwealth prosecutors agreed to drop a misdemeanor charge for reckless storage of a fir3arm. Though she was facing up to 5 years, prosecutors only asked for 6 months, but the court found that the “circumstances of the sh00ting justified exceeding the state sentencing guidelines high-end recommendation of 6 months active jail time.” The Richneck Elementary School teacher, Abigail Zwerner, 25, was sh0t in her classroom by Taylor’s son on Jan. 6. She was hit in her hand & chest, leading to broken bones & a punctured lung. She sued the Newport News School Board as well as the school district’s superintendent & the principal of Richneck Elementary in the wake of Taylor’s plea this April. Zwerner said that administrators knew the child had a g*n or access to 1 on the day she was sh0t & that he had a known “history of viol3nce” to school administrators. That history included episodes where he “strangl3d & chok3d” a teacher & “inappropriately touched” a fellow student. On the day of the sh00ting, Zwerner claims she reported hearing that the boy had threatened to beat up another student. Another teacher, a few hours before Zwerner was sh0t, allegedly told an administrator that she thought the boy might have a g*n concealed in his pockets. Zwerner said the fellow teacher was brushed off & told that the boy’s pockets were too small to contain a g*n. A third teacher also went to administrators before Zwerner was sh0t & said she was warned by a student that the boy had a g*n on him. That student was crying & told the teacher that the boy threatened to sh00t him if he snitched about the w3apon. Then, an hour before she was sh0t, Zwerner said a fourth teacher had tried & failed to get permission from administrators to search the boy for the hidden g*n. As for Taylor, she gave an interview to ABC News in May, roughly a month after she was charged with neglect. She said she believed her son felt “ignored” by Zwerner though she apologized for what had happened. Her son was a “great kid,” but was hyperactive as a result of his ADHD & was unable to “sit still ever,” Taylor said. But the child “actually really liked” Zwerner, Taylor told the outlet this spring. Ahead of Taylor’s sentencing on Friday that Zwerner’s lawsuit remains active. She seeks $40 million from the school district. The school district, meanwhile, has sought to have the complaint dismissed without success. No longer an employee of the district, Zwerner has stopped teaching due to what she says is a fear of children, anxiety & post-traumatic stress spurred by the sh00ting. She also suffers from mobility issues that have made it hard for her to do simple tasks like tying her shoes. #truecrimecommunity #truecrime #crimetiktok #crimejunkie #truecrimetiktok #crimetok #crime #truecrimeaddicted #truecrimepodcast
A Missouri Amazon delivery driver accused of fatally hitting a 4-year-old boy and leaving the scene has been taken into custody, according to police. Investigators with the Kansas City Police Department said the incident happened Monday evening in a neighborhood where 4-year-old Tadens Joseph was outside playing near his favorite park, located just steps from his family’s home. Authorities say the child was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by the Amazon delivery driver. Police said the driver briefly stopped after the collision but then drove away without calling 911 or attempting to help the child. According to local reports, one of Tadens’ family members chased after the driver after realizing she had just delivered a package nearby. Investigators said when confronted, the woman allegedly denied being involved before leaving the area. The suspect has not yet been publicly identified, and formal charges are still pending as the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office reviews the case. In a statement, Amazon said, “Our deepest sympathies are with the child’s family during this incredibly difficult time. We’ll cooperate fully with the Kansas City Police Department in their active investigation.” Tadens’ family later shared emotional memories about the young boy. His mother said he had been excited all day to receive his first pair of glasses and repeatedly told her, “I can’t wait for my glasses.” His classmates and teacher had even celebrated the milestone earlier that day at school. Family members said Tadens spent much of his free time playing at the neighborhood park where the tragedy occurred.##fyp##viral
