A FedEx driver in Florida was fatally shot in front of his girlfriend after a man allegedly trailed his truck to a distribution center and opened fire, according to authorities. Police say 24-year-old Tyler Brandon Vidro is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated stalking in connection with the killing of Nathaniel Padgett outside a FedEx facility in Riviera Beach. According to an arrest affidavit, the incident began Thursday evening on Florida’s Turnpike. Investigators say Vidro pulled up alongside Padgett’s delivery truck, gesturing in a way officers believe was meant to provoke a confrontation. Padgett, who was driving with his girlfriend, did not engage and continued on to the FedEx location on West Blue Heron Boulevard. Authorities allege Vidro followed the couple into the restricted parking lot. After arriving, Padgett briefly went inside the building before returning to the lot. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Vidro waiting and then confronting him, accusing Padgett of hitting his car. Padgett denied the claim and attempted to distance himself. Police say Padgett drove to another section of the property, with Vidro continuing to pursue him. The situation escalated further when Padgett stopped again, exited his vehicle, and picked up a cinder block as the confrontation continued. Investigators allege Vidro then fired multiple rounds, striking Padgett several times. His girlfriend called 911 as the shooting unfolded. During the call, Padgett reportedly told her, “I’m going to die, baby,” as she tried to reassure him. Emergency responders transported Padgett to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Shortly after the incident, Vidro contacted law enforcement and acknowledged his involvement, claiming he acted in self-defense. He allegedly told officers he had “emptied the magazine” before requesting an attorney. Police said a self-defense claim under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law does not apply in this case, noting that the shooting occurred on private property where Vidro was not authorized to be. Investigators also pointed to what they described as a pattern of pursuit, saying Padgett had repeatedly tried to avoid the confrontation. Vidro was taken into custody and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, where he is being held without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 18. Family members described Padgett as a devoted father of three and a hardworking provider who cared deeply for those around him.#fyp #viral
