A U.K. court has formally recognized Barron Trump for helping stop a violent assault, as the attacker was handed a prison sentence. At Snaresbrook Crown Court, Joel Bennathan commended the 19-year-old son of Donald Trump for acting “properly and responsibly” after alerting authorities from abroad. The incident stemmed from a January 18, 2025 video call during which Trump witnessed a woman being assaulted. How the incident unfolded The court heard that 23-year-old Matvei Rumiantsev, a Russian national and former mixed martial arts fighter living in London, interrupted a FaceTime call between Trump and the victim. During the call, he allegedly showed the woman distressed and injured amid an alcohol-fueled outburst. Recognizing the danger, Trump immediately contacted U.K. emergency services from the United States, stressing the urgency of the situation and reporting that a woman was being attacked. Officers were dispatched to an East London residence and arrested Rumiantsev shortly afterward. The victim later credited Trump’s quick response with saving her life. Court ruling and remarks Rumiantsev received a four-year sentence after being convicted of assault causing actual bodily harm, along with perverting the course of justice. The latter charge related to messages he sent from custody attempting to pressure the victim into withdrawing her claims. He was cleared of additional allegations, including rape and choking. During proceedings, defense lawyer Sasha Wass argued that jealousy played a role, claiming the victim’s connection to Trump had contributed to the confrontation. However, Justice Bennathan rejected that narrative, describing Rumiantsev as “unrepentant” and prone to jealousy. Addressing the defendant directly, the judge criticized his lack of remorse and attempts to shift blame onto the victim. Barron Trump did not appear as a witness in court, and the woman’s identity has been withheld in line with U.K. legal protections.#fyp #viral
