It was safe for decades. I was there all the time to witness and experience Deep Ellum when it was amazing. It wasn’t always this nonsense. I grew up in Dallas born and raised and spent years enjoying Deep Ellum. 80s, 90s, 2000s. It was a place where music, art, and people from all walks of life came together. There were occasional fights, but nothing remotely like the shootings and killings we’re seeing today. This is about a lack of respect for human life, personal responsibility, and basic values. Guns are being used recklessly, and people are losing their lives over senseless conflicts. It’s heartbreaking to see what has happened to a place that was once such a special part of Dallas and many’s childhood and young adulthood. Folks need to get back to basics of respecting others and valuing human life. People have trashed Deep ellum, disrespected its culture, and made it unsafe. Rip to those who lost their lives and were hurt. Watch out for yourselves and be safe.

You brought back memories with the underground shopping downtown I remember back in the day at the West End you could walk around shop listen to music buy stuff they had old-fashioned candy, old-fashioned chocolate, the good old days in downtown Dallas
