Very wrong narrative , the biggest question is how should we correct the system . Not everyone should be self employed. The problem is unemployment is at its peak . Otherwise even if you study from the US , UK or any first world country, you gain experience through work. The biggest inventors merely have ideas , then use bright minds to make the ideas come to life

When you assess the return on investment from government-sponsored university graduates, the numbers are hardly convincing. Some are even employed by individuals who financed their own education. Perhaps it is time to rethink our priorities: government should invest more in sponsoring tertiary and vocational education, where practical skills create jobs, stimulate enterprise and accelerate development. Reduce the excessive years of theory, particularly for creatives, and prioritise skills that translate into productivity. Theory has its place in research and advancing knowledge, but a nation cannot develop on theory alone. An education system that keeps Africa consuming knowledge rather than producing solutions only perpetuates the very development gap colonial powers deliberately left behind.
