@ericad.wright: My first time at the Forest Theater, and I got to witness a piece of Dallas history come back to light. 🖤✨ Seeing that iconic tower and marquee shine for the first time in more than 50 years was something special! Right here on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in South Dallas, the Forest carries generations of stories. Opened in 1949 during segregation, it became an important gathering place for Black families and a stage for legends like Tina Turner, Gladys Knight, and B.B. King. As a Black woman and creator, being there for its return filled me with pride. There is power in preserving the places that hold our history—and giving the next generation room to create their own. This reopening means space for Black creativity, opportunity, connection, and joy. A place rooted in Black culture where people of color and the entire community can gather, feel welcome, and build something together. South Dallas deserves investment in its people, its stories, and its future. I’m grateful I got to witness this moment.
